Writing for You

An imperfect practice where I seek to put words to your responses.

Writing for You

The cloud around my head was starting to become darker. There was something in my bones, deep in my being that was asking me for more. Not the draining kind of more that only seeks to take from you, but the kind of more that causes a spark to take form, lighting the way on the path toward more light.

I’ve loved the practice of writing for as long as I can remember—yet I noticed that so much of my writing was focused on me and my experience. There were ways in which my writing connected with and helped others, but I knew there had to be more. And so, I asked myself, “if you were writing for just one person, would it matter?” And out of that question, Writing for You was born. I ask these simple, yet risky questions, and each time one or two people share their stories, hopes, doubts, hurts and struggles with me. What a gift and what an honor.

And so, I ask, what can I write for you today?

What is something you’re struggling to name or put words to? What is a hope that is tucked away in your heart? Or a sorrow or burden that has become too heavy to carry alone?

In this imperfect practice, I seek to put words to your responses in prayers, poems, and posts. It’s a risk to share a part of yourself with me—a stranger or just an acquaintance—so I hope to hold these things gently with you.

Depression, mental health, political weariness, pregnancy loss, hope, death, church hurt, pain, doubt, and faith are a few of the things I have written on for others.

Share as little or as much as you want.

All responses will be kept private.
